Police appeal for witnesses after car collided with tree on Broadoak Lane
Police are appealing for witnesses after a two-year-old girl was left seriously injured after a collision in Mobberley.
At around 1.35pm on Wednesday, 24th September, officers in Macclesfield responded to reports of a crash on Broadoak Lane. On arrival, they found that a grey Audi Q3 had left the road and collided with a tree.
The driver of the car, a 28-year-old man from Altrincham, and the young girl who was a passenger, had already been taken to Wythenshawe Hospital by a passing member of the public.
The man sustained arm injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.
However, the two-year-old girl suffered head and arm injuries and has since been transferred to Manchester Children’s Hospital for further treatment.
As part of the investigation, the driver was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He remains in custody, assisting officers with their enquiries.
Sergeant Russell Sime, of the Serious Collisions Investigation Unit, said:
“This incident has resulted in a very young child sustaining serious injuries; we are doing all we can to fully establish what occurred here.
“As part of these enquiries, I would like to ask that anyone with any information regarding the incident please come forward. The same goes for anyone who may have captured the vehicle involved in the collision on any dashcams or CCTV cameras.”
