Terrence King convicted for fatal attack on teenager

Terrence King, a 60-year-old man from Middleton, Rochdale, has been found guilty of murder after deliberately crashing his car into a teenager on a stolen e-bike.
King was convicted at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court on 17th July 2026 for the murder of 15-year-old Devon Simmonds-Caines.
Devon suffered multiple serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene following the collision on Rowrah Crescent on 22nd July 2025.
According to the Crown Prosecution Service, King became enraged upon seeing Devon on the stolen e-bike and decided to take matters into his own hands, driving directly at him with fatal consequences.
Despite King's claims during the police interview that his intention was to block the bike rather than crash into Devon, the jury rejected his explanation and found him guilty.
Sobia Ahmed of the Crown Prosecution Service said: “Terrence King was enraged when he saw Devon Simmonds-Caines on the stolen e-bike. Rather than contacting the police, King deliberately took matters into his own hands and drove directly at Devon, at speed, with fatal consequences.”
Devon was described as a young boy with his whole life ahead of him, and Ahmed expressed sympathy for his parents enduring the unimaginable loss.
King is scheduled to be sentenced at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court on 23rd July.
