Four men arrested and £70,000 seized in Manchester drugs and firearms investigation
Police raided eight addresses including Moss Side and Harpurhey
Four men have been arrested and £70,000 in cash and a samurai sword have been seized in an investigation into the supply of class A drugs in Manchester.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said officers executed eight warrants at addresses across the City of Manchester on 1st October 2026.
The addresses included Moss Side, Levenshulme, Moston and Harpurhey.
Four men in their 20s and 30s were arrested on suspicion of firearms and drugs offences.
They have all been bailed pending further enquiries.
Officers also recovered class A drugs consisting of cocaine and MDMA, alongside a viable semi-automatic firearm and rounds.
GMP said the warrants were carried out by Challenger officers, supported by the Neighbourhood Tasking Teams, Neighbourhood Crime Teams, Xcalibre, the Tactical Aid Unit and the dog unit.
The warrants follow a report of an aggravated burglary at an address in Whalley Range in May 2026.
GMP said officers from the City of Manchester Central neighbourhood response team were called to the reports on 18th May 2026.
They recovered class A drugs estimated to be worth around £20,000, as well as a viable firearm and rounds.
The investigation was then handed to the City of Manchester Central and South Challenger teams.
Police said they identified eight people suspected of being part of an organised crime group involved in the supply of class A drugs across Manchester.
Since the warrants, a further five males were circulated as wanted and later handed themselves in to police for further questioning.
Detective Constable Katie Havens, from GMP's City of Manchester South Challenger team, said: "We executed eight warrants and arrested four men in relation to a proactive investigation and recovered a significant amount of cash."
She added: "These warrants alongside the previous finds at addresses in May have prevented dangerous weapons and illegal drugs from reaching our streets."
She also said: "This was a substantial discovery and as we progress with this investigation, we will continue to target those involved in serious and organised crime to keep our communities safe for all those who live and work across the whole of Greater Manchester."
GMP said it recovered 86 firearms from Greater Manchester's streets between April 2024 and April 2025.
It said it recovered another 64 between April 2025 and April 2026.
The force said there has been a significant reduction in firearms discharges, with 16 in total between April 2025 and April 2026.
Anyone with information is being asked to contact GMP.
DC Havens said: "We rely on information from the public and we take all information received seriously.
