An investigation has begun following reports of a man being stabbed in Warrington.

Cheshire Police were called to the Greenings Court area of the town at around 11pm on Friday 1 May to reports of a serious assault following an argument.

A 44-year-old man received a stab wound to his lower torso and was subsequently taken to Aintree Hospital for further treatment.

The force says he has since been discharged and is recovering at home as his injuries are not believed to be life-changing or life-threatening.

Detective Constable Elodie Parkinson said: "No arrests have been made at this time and we are appealing to anyone with any information to get in touch.

"Officers are particularly keen to speak to a man and a woman who were at the scene of the incident, as it is believed they hold vital information.

"We also believe the driver of a Volkswagen passed the scene and may have witnessed the incident or could have captured it on dashcam footage, so I would encourage any motorists who may have been in the area at the time to please review any dashcams they may have."

Anyone with any information in relation to the incident is asked to contact Cheshire Police via the website, or on 101, quoting incident number IML-2320317.
