Police have arrested a man in his 20s on suspicion of two counts of attempted rape in the early hours of Saturday morning in Rochdale.

Greater Manchester Police received two reports of sexual assault from victims in the early hours of this morning, nearly an hour and a half apart.

At 6.15am, officers received a report that a woman had been sexually assaulted in Broadfield Park, and then a second report was received of a different woman being assaulted in Milnrow Memorial Park at 8.38am.

Both women have said they did not know the man, and provided similar descriptions of the suspect.

Detectives then issued an appeal for a suspect described as a black male wearing a three-piece suit or smart black clothes and a dark coat.

The suspect is also believed to have been carrying a briefcase.

Officers identified CCTV footage of a man matching that description in the Coco Lounge in Rochdale, which he was seen leaving at around 5am.

Police are asking that anyone with information about the case, contact them on 101, quoting incident number 679 and 880 of 25/07/2026, or report information via GMP’s LiveChat service.

Information can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
