Man in life-threatening condition after stabbing in Manchester park
A 28-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder
A man is in a life-threatening condition in hospital after a suspected stabbing in Crowcroft Park in Manchester.
Emergency services were called to the park, off Stockport Road in Longsight, at around 5:35pm on Sunday 1st March.
A man in his 40s was found with injuries consistent with a stabbing and was taken to hospital, where he remains in a life-threatening condition.
A 28-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in custody for questioning.
What happened in Crowcroft Park
Officers were called to reports of a serious assault in Crowcroft Park on Sunday evening.
Police say they believe this to be an isolated incident and that there is no wider threat to the public.
Detective Inspector Natalie McDonald said: "We fully appreciate the concern this incident may cause across the local community, but I would like to reassure you that we believe this to be an isolated incident that poses no wider threat to the public.
"We currently have a man in custody and are conducting extensive enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this incident.
"Our officers have been at the scene overnight and will continue to patrol the area throughout the day. I urge anyone with concerns to please approach and speak with them, as they will always be happy to support."
Investigation continues
Officers remain at the scene as enquiries continue.
