Police arrest 78-year-old woman on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving
A man has died following a serious road collision involving a pedestrian and a car in Manchester last night.
Emergency services were called to Slade Lane at approximately 8.10pm on Monday, 9th June, after reports of a collision involving a pedestrian, a car, and nearby street furniture.
Despite the best efforts of responders, the pedestrian, a 64-year-old man, was pronounced dead shortly after the incident.
Greater Manchester Police have confirmed that the car came to a stop near the junction with Portland Road.
The driver, a 78-year-old woman, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in custody for questioning.
The incident has prompted a police appeal for witnesses and anyone with information or footage to come forward.
A spokesperson for GMP said: “Officers investigating the incident are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or has any other information to please come forward. This includes anyone with dashcam, CCTV, or doorbell footage from the area.”
