A man has died near to Stockport bus station.

Police were called to a concern for welfare at around 05:00GMT on Tuesday (28 January).

Several streets are closed, including Astley Street and Viaduct Street.

In a statement, Greater Manchester Police told Greatest Hits Radio: "Emergency services are currently responding to a concern for welfare at Stockport train station.

"Sadly just after 5am, a 52-year-old man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

"A scene remains in place with several roads around the station closed."
