A man in his fifties has died after a motorbike crash on the M60, police have confirmed.

The man was riding the motorbike, and police say there were no other vehicles involved.

A section of the M60 in both directions between Junction 18 (Simister) and Junction 19 near Middleton was closed on Friday night.

Greater Manchester Police said they're appealing for witnesses.

In a statement, they said: "At around 8:15pm yesterday (1/8/25) we were called to reports of a single-vehicle RTC involving a motorcycle travelling clockwise on the M60 between junctions 18 and 19.

"Despite best efforts of the emergency services, a male in his 50s sadly died at the scene of the collision.

"No other vehicles were involved and we are now appealing for more information to understand the circumstances that led up to the collision."

Police say they are particularly interested in anybody who may have dash-cam footage of the incident.
