Man dies in Oldham house fire
Fire crews were called to Heyside at around 05:30 this morning (Wednesday 03 November)
A man has died in a house fire in Oldham.
Emergency services were called to a detached bungalow just off Oldham Road, Heyside at around 05:30 this morning (Wednesday 03 November).
The body of a man in his 60s was discovered at the scene and an investigation has been launched.
Greater Manchester Police said: "Officers responded to reports of a fire at a property off Oldham Road, Royton today (03/12/2025) at around 6am
"A body was discovered of a man who sadly died inside the property
"Enquiries are ongoing at this time"
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue confirmed three fire engines had attended and the fire had not spread to other properties.
A spokesperson said: At 5.35am on Wednesday 3 December, three fire engines from Oldham, Hollins and Chadderton fire stations plus the turntable ladder from Manchester Central fire station were called to a fire involving a detached bungalow on Marches Close, Royton.
“Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus arrived quickly and used three hose reel jets to extinguish the fire. Crews remain in attendance alongside partners to make the scene safe.”
