Man charged with producing ricin in Salford

Court appearance set after hazardous substances found

A man from Salford has been charged with producing the biological toxin ricin and attempting to produce a psychoactive substance.

Callum Browne is scheduled to appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court on 10th June 2026.

The charges stem from an arrest on 31st May 2026, when police were called by the North West Ambulance Service to a property on Rowland Street, Salford.

Following concerns for welfare, officers discovered substances at the location believed to be potentially hazardous.

These substances were safely removed, and no injuries were reported.
