A man has been charged with manslaughter following the death of a man in Rochdale.

37-year-old Dougie Waring, of Marigold Street, Rochdale, has been charged in connection with the death, Greater Manchester Police said.

He is due to appear before Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court today, Tuesday 29th September.

A second man who was arrested as part of the investigation has been bailed pending further enquiries.

The investigation was launched after a 52-year-old man was found unconscious on South Parade in Rochdale in the early hours of Saturday morning.

He was taken to hospital but died shortly afterwards.

Detectives from Greater Manchester Police's Major Incident Team had been leading the investigation since the weekend.

They're continuing to appeal for anyone who may have CCTV, doorbell, dashcam or mobile phone footage from the area to get in touch.
