Man charged over double-fatal crash on Hyde Road in Gorton

A man has been charged in connection with a crash between a car and a digger in Gorton that left two people dead.

Greater Manchester Police said 26-year-old Apollo Simms, of Tealby Road in Manchester, has been charged with two counts of death by dangerous driving.

He has also been charged with failing to provide a sample for analysis, the force said.

The crash took place on Hyde Road on 5th August 2026.

It resulted in the deaths of two people, according to Greater Manchester Police.

Simms is due to appear in court today, Tuesday 11th August 2026.
