Man arrested after knife threats in Radcliffe disturbance

Police say incident in Bury was isolated and quickly contained

Police in Radcliffe, Bury have arrested a 26-year-old man after reports of threats involving a knife at a residential address on Stand Lane on 30th March 2026.

Officers were called to the scene at around 2:15pm following reports of a disturbance, with concerns that a man was making threats while in possession of a bladed weapon. Those inside the property were able to reach a place of safety before contacting emergency services.

A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of making threats with a bladed article and remains in custody for questioning.

Police response to Radcliffe incident

Greater Manchester Police confirmed that officers, including armed units, attended the address and negotiated with the suspect inside the property to bring the situation under control.

Chief Inspector Andy Wright from GMP’s Bury district said: “Our officers responded swiftly to reports of a man threatening members of the public with a knife at an address in Radcliffe earlier this afternoon.

“We understand how alarming these incidents may be to local communities and the wider public, but I would like to reassure you that this was an isolated incident and our armed officers were on scene to manage any potential risk.

“I would like to thank you all for your patience whilst our officers have been responding to this incident, and I urge anyone who may have concerns or questions to please speak with officers on scene and local patrols. They will always be happy to support.”

Reassurance for local community

Police have emphasised that the incident is not being treated as террорism-related and have reassured residents that there is no wider threat to the public.

Enquiries remain ongoing as officers continue their investigation.
