Charge made for Macclesfield murder

Police were called to an address in Macclesfield following reports of a sudden death on Tuesday

Police investigating the murder of a man in Macclesfield have charged Aurin Makepeace (42) from Victoria Road, Prestatyn with the murder.

The charge relates to the death of 41-year-old Steven Rothwell who was found at his home address in Cross Street, Macclesfield on Tuesday (19 August).

She will appear at Warrington Magistrates on 22 August.

A 41-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman were also arrested as part of enquiries into Steven’s death but they have since been released without charge.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: "At 10.35pm on Tuesday 19 August police were called to 1A Cross Street, Macclesfield following reports of a sudden death.

"On arrival officers sadly discovered the body of 41-year-old Stephen Rothwell.

"Next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers at this difficult time."
