M60 closed after car crashes into central barrier
Motorists are facing long delays
The M60 has been closed clockwise following reports of a "serious" crash between J8 for Carrington and J9 for Urmston.
Greater Manchester Police said a driver had been taken to hospital after colliding with the central barrier at around 05:30am.
It is believed he may have suffered a medical episode at the wheel.
Drivers have been left stuck in long queues this morning (Tuesday 25 September) and traffic is being diverted away from the motorway.
National Highways said the road had been closed from J6 for Sale, and have urged motorists to avoid the area.
Pictures from motorway cameras show large queues building in the area, with traffic monitoring services reporting congestion back to J1 for Stockport Pyramid.
