Former footballer Joey Barton has been charged after an assault near a golf club in Huyton.
Emergency services were called to Fairway at around 9pm on Sunday 8 March to reports of a man being assaulted near to Huyton and Prescot Golf Club.
The victim has suffered serious injuries to his face and body - he's in a serious but stable condition in hospital.
Barton, 43, of Fox Bank Close, Widnes, and Gary O'Grady, 50, of Seel Road, Huyton, have been charged with Section 18 wounding with intent.
They're due to appear at Wirral Magistrates Court today (10 March)
