"It's coming Holmes Chapel": Northern renames Cheshire station ahead of semi-final showdown
Northern Trains rallies behind England with a station renaming
Cheshire's Holmes Chapel station is getting into the football spirit with a temporary name change to "It's Coming Holmes Chapel," as Northern Trains shows its support for England ahead of tonight's semi-final match against Argentina (15/07/26)
The station has donned new signage, and staff are embracing the excitement for what promises to be a dramatic night for football fans across the North of England.
The gesture is part of Northern Trains' efforts to spread some positivity and get locals in the mood for the big showdown.
Alex Hornby, Commercial and Customer Director for Northern, said:
"It's coming Holmes Chapel! We wanted to give our customers a reason to smile as they head out to watch the game."
"On a more serious note, we're encouraging fans to leave the car at home and take the train, whether heading into town for the vibrant atmosphere or simply getting home safely post-match."
He added: "We'll have trains running late into the evening to help everyone return home once the football's finished, but remember to check your last train times if the match heads into extra time or penalties."
Northern is urging supporters to check timetables ahead, as some late trains may be more crowded.
The station will return to its original name, Holmes Chapel, once the silverware is decided.
