Fire crews are tackling a blaze that’s spread to two houses in Warrington.

It's believed to have started outside but quickly spread to a pair of semi-detached homes on Lavender Gardens.

Six fire engines, including from Warrington, Penketh (x2), Widnes, Birchwood, Lymm and an aerial ladder platform were called out initially.

A cordon is in place and people nearby are being told to keep windows and doors shut because of the smoke.

The fire service said that crew split the incident into sections to manage the fire and contain it.

It's believed the fire is now under control and the number of fire engines on the scene is being reduced to four. Hotspot areas are being dampened down using an aerial ladder platform.
