The family of a man whose body was found in Heaton Park a week after he went missing have released an emotional tribute.

Craig Foy, 40, from Whitefield, was last seen on Bury New Road, Prestwich, on 26 July, before he was reported missing.

He was then spotted on CCTV climbing into Heaton Park, before his body was discovered on Sunday 03 August.

In a statement, his family said: "“Beloved Craig Foy (aka Kirwan) - Son, brother, father, uncle, and friend to many. Our cheeky funny loveable one of a kind who will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

“We as a family would like to thank everyone who helped share and search for Craig, and sent messages of love and support at this incredibly difficult time.”

Police are still investigating the cause of his death and the circumstances leading up to it.

Three men arrested as part of their investigation have been released without further action.

Detective Chief Inspector Jill Billington from our Major Incident Team said: “A thorough investigation has been ongoing since Craig was reported missing and will continue, to ensure we get Craig’s family the answers they deserve.

“At the moment, the cause of Craig’s death, and the circumstances which led to it, are still to be determined pending further tests.

“The three individuals previously arrested in connection with Craig’s death have been released with no further action.

“We are continuing to support Craig’s family throughout this period."
