Extra resources to ensure safety for Bolton Wanderers match
Enhanced measures are in place for Bolton Wanderers' Championship game
Bolton Wanderers make their return to the Championship today, facing Preston North End in a midday match at the Toughsheet Community Stadium.
To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone, extra officers will be on duty around the stadium, at transport hubs, and on key routes before, during, and after the match.
Alongside these efforts, Section 60 and Section 34 orders have been implemented.
These orders grant officers the ability to conduct stop-searches within a designated area and to direct individuals suspected of anti-social behaviour to leave.
Both orders will be active from 9am to 6pm, with extensions possible if required.
Expert Coordination
Chief Superintendent Dave Meeney, the Gold Commander for this match, highlighted the collaborative efforts with supporters from both clubs to ensure the event is safe.
“The vast majority of fans attend football matches to support their team and enjoy the atmosphere," Meeney said.
"We have put a comprehensive policing plan in place, including additional officers around the stadium, transport hubs and key routes in and out of Bolton."
Meeney mentioned that the orders in place provide officers with the necessary tools to swiftly address any incidents of violence, disorder, or anti-social behaviour.
“These powers will also allow officers to ask fans to remove face coverings," Meeney said.
Furthermore, fans are encouraged to plan their journeys and allocate extra time for travel.
Supporters should heed the advice of officers and stewards, while any acts of criminality or anti-social behaviour will be dealt with rigorously.
