Charity supporting women in refuge concerned technology making it easier for victims to be tracked
Concerns are being raised after Kulsuma Akter was seeking refuge in Bradford when Habibur Masum tracked her down through her phone location
A charity in Leeds said technology advancement is becoming a huge issue for women seeking refuge.
On Friday, Habibur Masum, 26, was found guilty of murder, one count of stalking, one count of assault and one count of threats to kill by a jury at Bradford Crown Court.
Kulsuma Akter, 27, had been living in a refuge in the city since January after Masum held a knife to her throat at their home in Oldham.
His trial heard Kulsuma left the refuge to meet a friend on the day of the attack in the belief that Masum was away in Spain.
However, he later confronted her in the city centre having tracked her through her phone location.
Karma Nirvana is a charity based in Leeds, they support women seeking refuge.
Natasha Rattu in the Executive Director of the charity and said: "There are so many challenges to when somebody leaves.
"But one of the first things that any support organisation like Karma Nirvana would do if we were supporting somebody, it's important to say that we support women every week to go into refuge, and refuge generally is a safe place and it absolutely should be, is we make sure that we limit or mitigate all of those potential risk factors where they could be located.
"So, that could be, via devices, phones technology children's iPad's things like that. There are so many things we don't even think about in this day and age."
Masum was seen on CCTV in the days leading up to the fatal attack "loitering, watching and waiting" in streets around the hostel, jurors heard.
He sent her messages threatening to kill her family members if she did not return to him, before trying to lure her out by sending her fake messages from a local GP practice pretending their son had an appointment and warning of "increasingly dire consequences" if she did not attend.
Kulsuma suffered multiple injuries during the attack.
Masum is due to be sentenced on 22 July.
