An estimated £2 million worth of cocaine has been seized and three cannabis farms found in Middleton and Oldham, Greater Manchester Police has said.

A 38-year-old man has been arrested after officers stopped a suspicious vehicle in Middleton.

Officers from the Middleton Neighbourhood Policing Team were on patrol on Sunday 4th October when they spotted a suspicious vehicle parked on Cemetery Street.

The vehicle was stopped, and a search found a quantity of Class A drugs, scales and cash, police said.

The 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing Class A drugs with intent to supply.

Cannabis farms at three addresses

Following the arrest, further intelligence led officers to three addresses.

Two are in Middleton and one is in Chadderton, Oldham.

A cannabis farm was found at each address, along with 20 kilograms of suspected cocaine.

Police said all of the recoveries are due to be assessed further.

They estimate the contents would have a potential street value of around £2 million.

Follows day of action in Rochdale

The results come after a significant day of action in Rochdale last week, which saw multiple arrests and cannabis farms shut down.

Police appeal for information

Inspector Graham Cooke, from GMP's Middleton Neighbourhood Policing Team, said:

"While last week saw a significant day in tackling suspected organised criminality across our areas, yesterday's result showed the successes that ongoing proactive patrolling can achieve.

"While our detectives are hard at work securing further evidence and charges in relation to last week's work, neighbourhood officers are continuing to patrol hotspots and take action where needed.

"I would urge anyone with any information about criminality in their area to get in touch with us - we will do what we can to assist."
