Boy arrested on suspicion of murder after woman died in Burnage
Police were called to reports of a disturbance at a house on Wednesday morning
A woman has died and a 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder following a disturbance in Burnage.
Police were called to an address on Ivylea Road at around 8am yesterday, 8th July 2026.
Despite the efforts of emergency services, a woman in her sixties died at the scene.
The boy remains in police custody as officers continue their investigation.
Detective Inspector Sean McFadden, from the force's Manchester Criminal Investigation Department, said: "We understand this will have caused some local concern around the community, but I want to reassure you we believe this to be an isolated incident."
"We currently have a boy in custody and we ask people to not speculate as we continue our investigation to establish the full circumstances of this incident," he said.
DI McFadden said his thoughts remained with the victim's family and friends "as they navigate through this tragic loss", adding that they continue to be supported by specialist officers.
