A murder investigation is underway after a 15-year-old boy died in a crash involving a car and an e-bike in Middleton.

Emergency services were called to Rowrah Crescent on the Langley Estate at around 11.55am today (22 July). Despite efforts to save him, the teenager was pronounced dead at the scene. His family are being supported by specialist officers.

A 59-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody for questioning. Greater Manchester Police say they’re also investigating a reported theft in the lead-up to the crash.

Another 15-year-old boy has also been arrested on suspicion of theft. A scene remains in place and officers are urging anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage to come forward.

Detective Chief Inspector Christopher Dean says the force is working to establish the full circumstances, and has asked the public not to speculate online out of respect for the grieving family.
