Murder investigation launched after man's death in Bolton
A teenage boy has been detained under the Mental Health Act
Greater Manchester Police have launched a murder investigation following new information about the death of a man in Bolton.
The 50-year-old was found with serious head and chest injuries at an address on Gray Street on 30th June 2026 and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigation launched after post-mortem
Detectives launched the murder investigation after new information came to light following a post-mortem, police said.
The inquiry is being led by the force's Major Incident Team.
A 15-year-old boy has been detained under the Mental Health Act and will be questioned in due course, police said.
No wider risk to the public
Detective Chief Inspector Louise Edwards, of the Major Incident Team, said officers believe this is an isolated incident.
"There is no information to suggest there is any wider risk to the public, and we are not seeking anyone else in relation to this incident," she said.
She added that her thoughts remain with the man's family and friends as enquiries continue.
