Attempted murder arrest over machete attack in Bolton shop
A man was left with serious injuries after being attacked in a shop in Breightmet on Sunday (April 05)
A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder over a machete attack in a shop in Bolton.
Terrified children were among those to witness the brutal attack in Breightmere on Saturday night, which left another man with serious injuries to his head and his shoulder.
He remains in hospital.
His attacker used the large knife to smash up the shop, before fleeing the scene.
Firearms officers arrested a 31-year-old man on Sunday.
Detective Inspector Lee Shaw, the SIO from Wigan CID, said: “The incident was witnessed by people in the shop, including children who must have been extremely frightened.
“The incident has been captured on CCTV, which shows the suspect swinging a large machete with blatant disregard of various members of the public close to him.
“We believe this was a targeted attack and the two men knew each other, and we have acted swiftly to ensure a dangerous individual is in custody."
