87-year-old man dies after being hit by car in Salford

Police are appealing for information following the crash

An 87-year-old man has died after being hit by a car in Salford.

The crash happened at around 5.45pm on Saturday, 24th January on Great Cheetham Street East.

A Vauxhall Astra hit the man while he was crossing the road.

Emergency services responded and the man was taken to hospital, but he later died from his injuries.

The driver of the car stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the police investigation.

Police say no arrests have been made at this stage.

Greater Manchester Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward, as well as anyone who might have CCTV, dashcam, or mobile phone footage from the moments leading up to the crash.
