Man arrested after 12-year-old boy assaulted in Timperely

A 12-year-old boy was assaulted in Timperley last Friday (21 November), prompting police to arrest a 21-year-old man on suspicion of assault.

The incident occurred at around 6.30pm on Stockport Road as the boy was walking with friends.

According to police, a vehicle approached the group from Shaftesbury Avenue and stopped alongside them.

The suspect exited the car holding what appeared to be a metal item.

The group ran, but the victim was caught and assaulted, receiving injuries to his back, hip, and left leg.

Police investigation ongoing

The 21-year-old suspect is currently in custody as police continue their investigation.

There is no indication of a wider risk to the public at this stage, officers have said.

Detective Inspector Karl Perry from Trafford Police reassured residents, adding: “We understand that this incident has alarmed the local community however we want to reassure the public that we believe there is no wider threat to the community.

“We are investigating this incident and currently have a male in custody who was arrested in suspicion of assault.”

He encouraged witnesses to come forward, saying: “If anyone witnessed this incident or has any footage that could help, please call us on 0161 856 3001 quoting log 2798 of 21/11/25.”
