Young driver admits killing woman in crash in north London

An uninsured driver has admitted killing a woman in a crash on a busy arterial road in north London.
Sedor Olmez was 17 when he was involved in a collision in which Laura Sone-Demetrious, 28, died on January 9 2024.
The incident happened on the A10 Great Cambridge Road in Enfield.
On Friday (4 September 2026), Olmez, now aged 20, pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey to causing her death by dangerous driving.
The defendant, from Tottenham, north London, admitted a second charge of causing death while driving a BMW uninsured.
Judge Lynn Tayton KC ordered a pre-sentence report after hearing Olmez had no previous convictions and was a teenager at the time of the offences.
She disqualified him from driving with immediate effect as she granted him continued unconditional bail.
The judge warned Olmez he faces jail when he is sentenced on a date to be fixed in early November.
Co-defendant Roderick Mirzakhanian, 31, from Tottenham, is also charged with causing death by dangerous driving.
He was unrepresented by a lawyer and was not asked to enter a plea.
Judge Tayton adjourned his plea hearing until October 2 and granted him continued unconditional bail.
Five members of Ms Sone-Demetrious’ family sat in the well of the court for the hearing.
