Three men jailed for over 15 years for Richmond jewellery smash-and-grab robbery
Sentences mark significant progress in tackling London crime
Three men have been sentenced to a combined total of 15 years and six months for their involvement in a smash-and-grab robbery at a jewellery shop in Richmond.
Deniz Mehmet, 28, Robert Clarke, 50, and Lee Ramsey, 46, were sentenced at Kingston Crown Court following guilty pleas related to the audacious daylight raid.
During the crime, the defendants smashed a jeweller's window with a sledgehammer, fleeing with jewels valued at £225,000.
The robbery, which occurred on 31st January at Paved Court, Richmond, sparked immediate investigative action.
After thorough reviews of CCTV footage, forensic analysis, and vehicle recovery tied to the crime, the three suspects were identified, leading to their arrests in Essex.
Detective Superintendent Dan Mitchell from the Met’s Flying Squad highlighted the impact of such robberies on local communities.
The sentences send a clear message of the Met’s determination in pursuing perpetrators of smash-and-grab crimes across London.
