Teenager charged with Hackney murder

A man was found with stab wounds in Towpath Walk on Bank Holiday Monday evening

A teenager has been charged with the murder of Brayan David Saldarriaga in Hackney.

Metropolitan Police officers were called at 7.17pm on Monday, 25 May to reports of a large gathering, disorder and sightings of individuals in possession of machetes in Towpath Walk.

He will appear at Thames Magistrates' Court on Saturday, 30 May.

Officers attended, along with the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance, and found Brayan, from Haringey, with stab wounds in Poplar Close. Despite the efforts of emergency services, he died at the scene.

His next-of-kin continue to receive support from specialist officers.

The 16-year-old, who cannot be named because of his age, was also charged on Friday, 29 May with possession of a bladed article.

He will appear at Thames Magistrates' Court on Saturday, 30 May.
