Amanda Staveley’s consortium reportedly close to buying stake in West Ham

A consortium led by former Newcastle director Amanda Staveley is reportedly close to buying a stake in West Ham.
The Times reports that Staveley and her husband Mehrdad Ghodoussi are attempting to purchase the 25 per cent stake currently held by Vanessa Gold.
Gold inherited the shares when her father, David Gold, died in 2023 and has been open to selling them ever since.
West Ham announced last month that Czech billionaire Daniel Kretinsky was poised to become the club’s largest shareholder after agreeing a deal to buy an additional stake from the Gold family.
Kretinsky was set to increase his share to 43 per cent, exceeding the current 38.8 per cent owned by David Sullivan, but that deal has yet to be confirmed.
Moreover, Sullivan – who resigned last month in the wake of the publication of historic allegations of misconduct, which he denies – has not yet indicated what he plans to do with his shares.
It is understood Kretinsky, who also owns Sparta Prague and does not want sole ownership of West Ham, would welcome the new investment as the club tries to move on from the previous regime and attempts to rebuild following last season’s relegation from the Premier League.
Staveley recently told Spear’s she was interested in investing in “a club that isn’t performing well”, and West Ham certainly tick that box.
However, the Hammers could be a tempting prospect for investors. They have already raised around £145million from the sales of Mateus Fernandes and Crysencio Summerville while keeping hold of key player Jarrod Bowen.
The club’s hierarchy have also been heartened by season-ticket sales of 50,000 ahead of the Championship season.
Staveley backed the Saudi Arabia consortium which bought Newcastle in 2021, and sold her shares in the Magpies two years ago.
The 53-year-old was also linked with a bid to invest in Tottenham last season.
