Sixty firefighters called to major blaze in Kingston

Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters have been tackling a fire on Southwood Avenue, in Kingston upon Thames.

The fire took hold on Sunday (5th January) in a detached two-storey house, with a loft conversion. Part of the loft space and first floor were alight. Three people got out before the brigade arrived.

There are currently no reports of any injuries.

The brigade got the first of seven calls reporting the fire at 6.20am, with fire control officers mobilising crews from New Malden, Surbiton, Kingston and surrounding fire stations to the scene.

The fire was under control by 7.57am.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
