Murder investigation underway after Shadwell stabbing
Police are appealing for witnesses and information after two people were attacked
A murder investigation has been launched in Shadwell after a man in his late 20s or early 30s was fatally stabbed.
Police were called to Watney Street at 16:01 yesterday (7th April 2026) following reports of an assault.
Upon the arrival of officers and paramedics from the London Ambulance Service, the man was found with knife wounds.
Despite medical efforts, he died in hospital.
Detectives are currently working to identify his next of kin.
Another man, in his 50s, was discovered at the scene with injuries but is expected to recover, as his condition is not considered life-threatening.
The Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime Command is leading the investigation and no arrests have been made yet.
Detective Chief Inspector Dave Whellams extended his thoughts to the victim’s family and the community affected by this incident.
He appealed for witnesses who may have been present at the time or have CCTV or dashcam footage to assist with the enquiries.
