No arrests have been made
Met Detectives have launched a murder investigation after an attack in Lewisham.
The London Ambulance Service was called to Hither Green Lane yesterday around 3:20pm, where a man in his 20s had been stabbed. He was treated at the scene and taken to hospital, where he later died.
His next of kin are being supported, and formal identification is yet to take place.
Detectives are continuing to investigate what they're describing as a "senseless attack" with a crime scene and road closures in place at Hither Green Lane and Benin Street.
No arrests have been made.
Superintendent Nick Jowett, of the Met’s Royal Borough of Greenwich Policing team said:
“Although we are in the very early stages of the investigation, I can assure you that detectives are working at pace to identify those responsible for this senseless attack.
“In the meantime, local residents can expect to see an increased police presence across the area. Please speak to them if you have any concerns.”
