A man has been jailed for life with a minimum term of 19 years for the killing of his neighbour in Harrow last year.
20 year old Jaden Sheriff, of Forston Street in Hackney, was convicted of murder at the Old Bailey last month, following the death of his former friend, 37 year old Robert Weston.
Police were called to Hamilton Crescent in Harrow at around 2pm on February 26 last year, finding Robert with two stab wounds, one of which had hit his heart.
Despite efforts to save him he passed away at the scene.
Sheriff initially claimed to have stabbed Robert in self defence, but witnesses and forensic evidence painted a different picture.
Phone records showed Robert had called 999 in the days before the attack to complain of feeling threatened by Sheriff.
Detective Inspector Devan Taylor, who led the investigation into the murder for the Metropolitan Police, said:
“Robert was just 37-years-old when he lost his life in this senseless attack, killed by someone who should have been a friend and neighbour.
“Jaden Sheriff now has to spend the rest of his life knowing he killed a man.
“No amount of time will make up for the pain Robert’s family have endured at losing their loved one.
“They have conducted themselves with great dignity throughout the trial and our thoughts remain with them as they continue to process what happened.”
