A man has been charged with murdering a woman in south west London.

The body of Chinese national Xiaoqing Ke, 39, was found inside a property in Old Brompton Road, SW5 at around 11.15am on Wednesday 10 December after Metropolitan Police officers were called about concerns for the welfare of a woman.

A post-moretem examination has confirmed that she died of stab wounds.

The force says her family, who live in China, have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

23-year-old Deepak Sandhu, of Newlands Avenue, Southampton, has been charged with murder. He was remanded in custody and will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 15 December.

A second man, aged 47, was arrested in relation to the investigation and has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Jolley, who is leading the investigation, said: “Our thoughts remain with Xiaoqing’s family at this incredibly difficult time. While a man has now been charged, our investigation continues, and we urge anyone with information who has not yet spoken to us to come forward.”

Anyone with information should call 101, quoting CAD 2689/10DEC25, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
