Man charged with murder after fatal assault in Islington
Ahmed Jama, 50, died from head injuries following attack
A 23-year-old man has been charged with murder after a police investigation into a fatal assault in Islington.
Police were called to Hungerford Road at 04:00 on 10th July following reports of an assault wherein Ahmed Jama, 50, was found with serious head injuries.
Despite medical efforts, Jama was sadly pronounced dead on 15th July. His family is being supported by specialist officers.
Mohamed Touitha, from Melyn Close, Islington, was arrested on suspicion of murder on 28th July and charged the following day.
He is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 30th July.
The investigation also saw the arrest of a 24-year-old man in the Islington area on 22nd July, who has been released on police bail as enquiries continue.
Two women, aged 18 and 19, arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm on 12th July, also remain on police bail.
The case is being closely monitored by the Metropolitan Police as they proceed with investigations.
