Hackney fire tackled with the efforts of 60 firefighters
Static caravan, cars, and properties affected in blaze
A significant fire on Cottrill Gardens in Hackney was brought under control by the combined efforts of eight fire engines and approximately 60 firefighters.
The blaze affected a static caravan, two scrap cars, a 25-metre embankment along a train line, three sheds, and fencing, Station Commander Wayne Bloomfield reported.
The fire also resulted in minor damage to two mid-terraced houses and a garage, but thankfully, there are no reports of injuries.
Nine people safely evacuated from two properties before the arrival of the firefighters.
Due to its proximity to the train line, power was temporarily shut off as a precaution while the fire was being addressed.
A Drone Team provided essential aerial views to assist the Incident Commander in managing the situation.
Firefighting teams were deployed from stations including Homerton, Leyton, and Whitechapel following over 20 calls about the incident.
The call to the fire brigade was made at 18:10 on 24th May and the fire was declared under control by 20:42.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
