Vishal Mehrotra: £20k reward offered 45 years on from murder

Detectives have launched a new appeal for information on the 45th anniversary of the disappearance of eight-year-old Vishal Mehrotra.
The independent charity Crimestoppers is offering a reward of up to £20,000 for any information provided anonymously that results in the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
Vishal went missing on 29th July 1981 from Upper Richmond Road in Putney during the wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer.
His remains were discovered on 21st February 1982 in Alder Copse near Rogate, West Sussex, and the case transitioned to a murder investigation led by Sussex Police.
Despite numerous enquiries and technological advancements since then, the case remains unsolved.
Detective Chief Inspector Mark Cullimore, the senior investigating officer, emphasised the impact of Vishal's murder on his family and the ongoing pursuit to uncover the truth.
"We are asking for any information, no matter how small it may seem. It could provide the answers Vishal's family needs," Cullimore said.
Vishal's sister, Mamta Mehrotra, shared a heartfelt plea emphasising the lasting impact of Vishal's disappearance on their family.
"Vishal was loved, and we still seek answers. One piece of information could bridge the gap to the truth," she said.
Annabelle Goodenough from Crimestoppers echoed the urgency of this appeal as 45 years without answers has been too long for the family.
