Four men arrested after suspected burglary linked to Berkhamsted

Jewellery believed to be stolen seized from stopped vehicle on the M25

Four men have been arrested in connection with a suspected burglary offence in Berkhamsted.

The arrests happened on 18th December after a vehicle, suspected of being linked to the burglary, was stopped on the M25 in Surrey. Hertfordshire’s Mobile Support Team tracked the vehicle and worked with Surrey Police to halt it.

Inside, officers found cloned plates, walkie talkies, and two rucksacks containing what is believed to be stolen jewellery.

Three men were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit burglary and released on bail while the investigation continues. They are:

A 32-year-old man from Loughton, Essex

A 29-year-old man from West London

A 30-year-old man of no fixed address

Another suspect, a 22-year-old man of no fixed address, was also arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit burglary. He is being held for another outstanding offence.

Hertfordshire Constabulary has offered advice to help keep homes secure this winter, including:

Keeping gifts out of sight and securely stored

Ensuring all windows and doors are locked

Avoid leaving packaging of valuable items by bins

Consider installing security cameras or alarms

Use external lighting and timer switches for indoor lights and appliances
