Eight fire engines and approximately 60 firefighters were deployed to a fire at a derelict building in Perivale last night (8th April).

The roof and first floor of several derelict terraced flats on Horsenden Lane South were ablaze, although no injuries have been reported.

Station Commander Justin Randtoul was present at the scene and acknowledged the efforts of the firefighters in controlling the fire.

Due to the significant smoke generated by the fire, Randtoul advised local residents and businesses to keep windows and doors shut.

Road closures are causing congestion, and the public is advised to avoid the area if possible.

The first report of the fire was received by the Brigade's Control Officers at 17:58.

Fire crews from Wembley, Chiswick, Ealing, and other nearby stations were sent to tackle the blaze.

By 19:46, the fire had been brought under control.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
