Police are investigating the unusual theft of a substantial quantity of tinned tuna from Kirkby in the early hours of 18th March.

Two men broke into the Knowsley Industrial Park and loaded up a truck with over 20 pallets of Kingfisher tuna.

The theft was reported at 6.25am.

The rather fishy affair involved two males arriving between 2 and 5.30 am, with a truck later showing up to haul away the loot.

Detective Chief Inspector Leanne Toole has spoken of the seriousness of such thefts, highlighting the effect they can have on businesses and communities.

"They are not victimless crimes – they can have a devastating ripple effect that can lead to people losing their jobs, prices rising as businesses seek to make up for the lost revenue and more," she said.

Merseyside Police is actively working to tackle such offenses and encourages anyone who has encountered offers of Kingfisher tuna under sketchy circumstances or has information regarding retail crime to come forward.

Reports can be made through Merseyside Police's social media desk on X and Facebook, or via their website.
