Merseyrail workers strike called off
The RMT union says it is reviewing an improved pay offer
A planned three-day strike by workers on Merseyrail has been called off after an improved pay offer was made.
Members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union (RMT) were due to walk out from Saturday.
The union said it will now consider the offer.
Neil Grabham, managing director of Merseyrail, said: “We are pleased that the RMT has agreed to postpone the planned industrial action while its members consider and vote on the improved offer that has been put forward.
“This is positive news for our customers, our employees and the Liverpool City Region.
“Merseyrail is proud to be one of the best-performing train operators in the country, and we are now looking forward to focusing on what we do best – delivering for our customers, supporting The Open Championship, and providing the safe, reliable and high-quality railway that the Liverpool City Region depends upon.”
