Treated in hospital for injury to hip
Last updated 5th Sep 2021
Merseyside Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was stabbed on Slater Street in Liverpool City Centre. It happened at about 2:30am on Saturday 4th September.
Officers out on patrol received a report that a man had been stabbed, and emergency services attended. The man was taken to hospital for a non-life threatening injury to his hip, consistent with being stabbed.
CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident and detectives are appealing for anyone with any information to come forward.
Detective Inspector Michelle Wilson said: “We are in the early stages of an investigation into a suspected assault on Slater Street in the early hours of this morning and we are working to establish the circumstances.
“We know that the area around Slater Street would have been very busy at the time of the incident, so if you were out in the area last night and saw anything or anyone suspicious then please let us know as information you hold could be vital to our enquiries.
“Our City Centre should be a safe space for everyone to enjoy our bars, clubs and restaurants and we will not tolerate weapons and those who use them on our streets.
“Officers will be out and about on patrol across Merseyside throughout this weekend to ensure that people can enjoy themselves safely without fear of violence. To small minority of individuals who think they can carry a knife our message is that it is simply not worth the risk: it is only a matter of time before you end up arrested.
“If you have any information about this incident or knife crime on Merseyside then please come forward and we will do the rest.”
