A man has been jailed for eight years after shooting a teenage girl in the legs in Toxteth.
Ali Karadas, 21, of Liverpool, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on Monday 5th October.
He pleaded guilty to Section 20 assault occasioning actual bodily harm and possession of a prohibited weapon.
Armed officers called to Lime Grove
At around 12.55am on Thursday 12th March 2026, armed officers were called to Lime Grove, off Lodge Lane.
A 17-year-old girl had been injured in a shooting inside a residential property, Merseyside Police said.
Following an investigation, Karadas was arrested three days later and subsequently charged.
As well as being jailed, he has been handed a 10-year restraining order against his victim.
Police response
Detective Inspector Chris Clark said:
"Karadas is clearly a dangerous offender who thinks it's acceptable to use a firearm against a 17-year-old girl.
"His cowardly actions on this night are truly shocking and I'm sure our communities will share our utter contempt for this sort of criminality.
"I hope this sentencing makes it absolutely clear that anyone involved in gun crime will be brought before the courts.
"Gun crime has been significantly reduced in recent years, but we are under no illusion that every single incident causes fear and risk within those communities.
"Information is always key to finding those responsible and removing them and any weapons from the streets, so please tell us what you know and we will take positive action."
