Man arrested in Roby after suspected cocaine found in van
Estimated 38kg of white powder blocks discovered
A 40-year-old man from Huyton has been arrested after police found an estimated 38kg of suspected cocaine in his van in Roby.
The arrest took place this afternoon, Tuesday 7th July, after officers stopped and searched a grey Volkswagen van on Bridge Road around midday.
Inside the van, police discovered five large shopping bags filled with blocks of white powder, believed to be cocaine.
The man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a Class A drug, involvement in the supply of cocaine, and acquiring, using or possessing criminal property.
He remains in police custody for questioning.
The operation was part of Project Medusa, which tackles County Lines activity through intercepting weapons, drugs, and illicit cash, while safeguarding individuals vulnerable to exploitation by organised crime groups.
Detective Chief Inspector Gary Stratton commented on the arrest: “The van contained a significant amount of hard class A drugs which we have intercepted and removed from our streets.”
He emphasised the damaging impact of drug dealing on communities and encouraged the public to report any information about similar activities.
