A 31-year-old man from Walton has been arrested in connection with the ongoing investigation into the murder of Ellis Cox.

Ellis Cox, aged 19, was fatally shot on 23rd June 2024 at the Liver Industrial Estate in Aintree.

Detectives have been working to identify those involved in the murder.

The arrested man is suspected of conspiracy to commit murder and is currently in police custody, where he will be questioned by detectives.

This new arrest increases the count to nine individuals detained in connection with Ellis Cox's murder.

The previously arrested individuals remain under investigation.

Detective Inspector Steve Wilkinson commented on the investigation:

“The investigation into the murder of Ellis is ongoing and this man will be questioned as part of our inquiries.

“This month will mark two years since Ellis was fatally shot at the Liver Industrial Estate and his family have been forced to live without anyone facing justice.

“We remain determined to find the people who were responsible and although we have made this arrest it is vital that anyone who has information comes forward as a matter of urgency so we can prosecute those who were involved in Ellis’s murder.”

The police continue to appeal to the public for any information that might aid the investigation.
