Liverpool to lift Premier League trophy after Crystal Palace clash at Anfield
Reds captain Virgil van Dijk to be handed silverware by club legend Alan Hansen
Liverpool FC will crown their 2024-25 Premier League-winning campaign on Sunday with an emotional trophy lift at Anfield following their final game of the season against Crystal Palace.
The match, which kicks off at 4pm BST, will be followed by a series of planned celebrations, culminating in captain Virgil van Dijk lifting the Premier League trophy in front of a packed home crowd.
Shortly after full-time, the Reds will leave the pitch and return to the dressing room while a stage is constructed on the Anfield turf. Around 10 minutes after the whistle, the players and staff will re-emerge from the tunnel, with the trophy walked out onto the pitch by Mark and Jo McVeigh of the Owen McVeigh Foundation – a charity deeply supported by both the club and Van Dijk himself.
Liverpool legend Alan Hansen will then present the trophy to Van Dijk. Hansen, who captained the club to their last top-flight title in the 1989-90 season, is making a heartfelt return to Anfield following a recent recovery from illness.
The club said: “Virgil van Dijk will be presented with the Premier League trophy by Alan Hansen at Anfield on Sunday.” Hansen will receive the trophy from Mark and Jo McVeigh and place it on a plinth before handing it over to the current Reds skipper.
Once the trophy has been lifted, players will conduct media interviews before beginning a lap of honour – set to start roughly nine minutes later – with a route ending at the Main Stand tunnel.
This celebratory lap is expected to last around 20 minutes and will include any end-of-season Premier League awards, with Mohamed Salah still in contention for both the Golden Boot and Playmaker honours.
